Key Club secretary Emily Stolar is an 11th-grade Clinton student. When asked what she loves most about Key Club this year, she said, “I love working with my fellow Clinton peers in order to give back to the broader community.”
This collaborative spirit fosters a sense of belonging and purpose among the members. She said her favorite Key Club activity “is making cards for nursing homes and those in need. It’s one of my favorites because I love to connect Key Club’s creative side and have fun while still giving back to the less fortunate.”
This creative approach not only brings joy to those receiving the cards but also enriches the experience for the members. She said the future of Key Club looks like, “maintaining the mission of Key Club by participating in more community service opportunities both inside and outside of school, reaching out and partnering with more organizations, and gaining more members!”
Following Emily’s inspiring contributions to Key Club, insights were gathered from Rita Dong, the club’s vice president, regarding leadership and the future of the organization. She talked about her new position in the club and her hopes for the new school year. I asked her why she wanted to become the vice president of the Key Club at Clinton, and she said, “I loved watching the previous leaders managing the club and all of the leadership they displayed each week. That really inspired me to run for vice president and step into this role.” Her admiration for past leaders shows the importance of mentorship in leadership development throughout Key Club. She recommends Key Club to all Clinton students because “Key Club gives students an opportunity to meet new people and socialize, as well as gain lots of community service hours.
