Hi, I’m Livi, a senior here at The Clinton School. I’ve had a spectacular experience going to high school at Clinton, and I truly wouldn’t wish to change it for anything.
I love my morning routines, getting coffee each morning from the man in the blue truck–Fawad. He’s the coffee man for the majority of Clinton, and greets you with the warmest smile on the coldest days. I also sit in Union Square on a big rock before I get to school, and speak with my grandma each morning. After this morning ritual, I make my way into the building, where I’m greeted with a kind smile and a good morning from Mr. Gainsberg and Crystal.
I make my way up the stairs, often stopping by teacher’s classrooms to say good morning or ask them questions, and everyone is super friendly. I get to school early every morning and get myself settled for the day.
Throughout the day, I chat with my peers and teachers, who often make me laugh or vice versa–Clinton is truly such a warm environment.
I love chatting with Mr. Snyder before school, telling him about my word of the week (this week my word is altruistic). I love when Ms. Liimatta asks me for the gossip even though I have none. I love when Ms. Yaeger invites me into HL Math, as I get to school early every morning, even though I don’t take the class. I also appreciate how Mr. Levin, our principal who has a lot of work to do, knows our names and checks in with us. He always asks me about what my new positive word is, which makes me feel like I’m a part of our school community.
All of my teachers throughout my years at Clinton have stayed friendly to me and continuously catch up with me, which makes the environment here even more welcoming.
I also love the plethora of clubs that Clinton offers. I am President of JSU (Jewish Student Union), I am a writer and the media manager/media editor for the Clinton Post, I started a Wiffle Ball Club, and I am a member of Key Club, Clinton Student Advocates, and National Honor Society. Through these clubs I’ve been able to connect with my peers and get to know them outside of class. These clubs have helped me find my place within Clinton, and have helped me find out what I’m passionate about.
Although the curriculum is very hefty, I truly enjoy it. Many people will complain about the work load, but as someone who genuinely loves a challenge, Clinton is the right fit for me. I love being able to be creative in art class, and how I am encouraged to ask questions in all of my classes and visit office hours.
Visiting office hours has provided me with the ability to get to know my teachers both inside and outside of the classroom, and build trust with them–something that I find very important and special about Clinton, Clinton’s teachers and administrators.
My experience here has been nothing but positive, and I’m really sad to embark on my next chapter next year, but I know it’s part of life to move on, despite the challenge that it will bring.
